Your alarm rings in your ear with the abruptness of Mount Agung blasting his top. Your bed and your body feels like one and you are considering calling in sick to your own business. There is a full week at least of work ahead of you, and if you don’t work, you don’t get paid!

You’ve got a bad case of the Monday Bali Blues, and we’ve got some hot tips to help cure it.

1. Get ready for Monday on Sunday

Think of Sunday as your investment in Monday. Instead of rushing around on Monday morning in a whirlwind of auric spray, emails, and strong bali coffee, spend some time getting organized the night before. Taking time to relax, clearing away the energy of last week from your mind! Doing the small things like prepping meals, writing shopping lists, and charging all your devices, downloading audio books can make a world of difference.
Basically, a bit of planning takes you from the person who stubs their toe first thing in the morning to the person who wakes up with a smile and a positive attitude.
Getting plenty of sleep on Sunday will also make your Monday easier.

2. Have something To Look Forward To

One of the best parts of going on vacation or a big trip is the anticipation leading up to it, right? Think of how you felt panning your trip here to Bali! Why not do the same with Monday? Feel the butterflies in your stomach and the excitement for new adventures. Take the scenic route to work, go down some new gangs, find a new cafe, getting together with a friend for sunset, sign up for that class you just haven’t got to yet like Dance at Canggu Studio, Yoga at Samadi or sound healing…whatever you enjoy! Maybe a night at home? Pop on some candles. Cook. Eat. Laugh then Bath!

3. Ask Yourself Why You Dread Mondays

Life is too short to hate any day of the week, and if the end of the weekend fills you with the Monday dread, then it maybe time to re-evaluate where you are in life.
Is it the stress? It is perfectionism? Is your workload too high? Is your work lacking meaning? Take some time out to figure out what it is about your work that isn’t igniting you. If you are highly motivated, have purpose and are pumped about what you do, I doubt your will have the Mondayitis …

4. Focus On Your health

After a weekend of indulging in junk food, alcohol, or lack of exercise, Mondays are a great day to start fresh and get back into a healthy routine.
You could do Meatless Mondays, pack in the fruit and veg, do 1x day of our Liquid Fasts, bump up the wheatgrass & bone broth, get extra sleep. Do what you can to kickstart the week well.

5. Do Some Fun Work Tasks on Mondays

If you dread having to do the annoying parts of your job, like reading emails, writing invoices, paperwork, etc., then do tasks on Monday that you like better so you can start off the week on a high note.
Break it up! Do your fun things first, like taking pics for your social media, posting some fun stories or simply move your workspace from your home/villa to a bright cafe instead…

6. Make Mondays The Easier Day

This may be easier said than done, BUT if you have some control over your schedule, then try to change it up a bit on Mondays. If you really suffer from a lack of motivation, especially on Monday mornings, then listen to what your mind and body are telling you and learn to work with your natural rhythm.
Make Monday the shorter day instead of Friday, or start work an hour later on Monday (if you can) to make the day feel more special and a little easier.

7. Relax on Sunday – Resist Temptation To Work

Especially on Sundays, make an effort to actively keep your mind on the present moment instead of sneaking onto your laptop.
Pamper on a Sunday evening; book a massage, go to Amo Spa for a sauna, get a mani pedi, get into nature….enjoy the relaxed state you’ve been striving for since Friday afternoon. Regenerate now, then smash it tomorrow.

8. Know Your Priorities

Monday marks the beginning of a new week, and you should start it with a bang! Get your priorities in order, make your to-do lists, and pursue those goals! Just do it!
Lie in bed for an extra minute or two in the morning to mentally run through your priorities for the day, and make sure you are making good decisions, and visualize success.
Try keeping a notepad next to your bed to quickly go over your priorities before you begin the day. This will keep you on track when your energy levels dip in the afternoon.
Focus on what’s important rather than just what’s ‘urgent’.

9. Plan Self-Care Tasks

“Treat yo’ self” …..there is no better day to do this than on a Monday. Think of Monday like a small investment in yourself, start your week with Yoga or a workout and a reward with a high quality dark chockky in your afternoon dip 😉

10. Have Reasonable Self-Expectations

Having a 100m-long to-do list on Monday will only make you feel miserable and de-motivated when you realize you can’t complete it all, and you may even give up all together. Spread out your list over the week. Unrealistic expectations of what we can achieve can leave us feeling overwhelmed and anxious.

11. Change Your Mindset

Going into Mondays with a positive attitude will only attract good things and have a snowball effect that lasts the entire week. Think of it as a fresh start, a clean slate, and an opportunity to begin again. Start on the right foot and you are more likely to continue in awesomeness through the week.

12. Practice Gratitude

There is a reason why people are always preaching the power of gratitude. Having a positive mindset begins with being grateful for what you already have, even if that is just the little things. How can you expect more good things to come into your life if you aren’t happy with what you have now? I like to practice this on the scooter in the morning commute…taking in all the sights and being grateful for each little thing….the people, the weather, the place, where we live.

Mondays are considered to be the most stressful day of the week. But this is just in your mind. Reduce your expectations, relax and don’t take yourself so seriously…you can still rock this without tearing your hair out. Don’t forget why you are here and what you came to do 🙂
